ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst resident Carolyn Carrillo has been home schooling her two kids, ages nine and ten for many years and managing to stimulate their curiosity and love of reading while struggling as a single mom. Along the way she became a cheerleader for reading and believes that every child should have a collection of books they love and can enjoy reading again and again.

Elmhurst, IL — Carolyn Carrillo sees a business need in Elmhurst, and she's hoping an online fund drive can help her fill it.As the mother of a 10-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy, Carrillo said she has always worked hard to find books that match her children's interests and reading level."
I discovered with my own son, especially, that once I tapped specifically what he loved, it changed his love of reading and his desire to learn," she said. And in that effort, she discovered a lack of children's book stores in the suburbs, she said.
